Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the role of English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ metacognitive listening strategies awareness and podcast-use readiness in using podcasting technology for learning English as a foreign language. One hundred and forty-one EFL students completed Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire (MALQ) that assessed their awareness and perceived use of listening strategies in five components including planning-evaluation, directed attention, person knowledge, mental translation, and problem solving. They also completed a questionnaire that assessed their readiness to use podcasting in terms of familiarity, attitude, and experience. Information on participants’ frequency of podcast use for learning English, frequency of the internet use, and digital device ownership was also obtained. Abstract Many dynamic approaches have emerged due to computer technology in facilitating language learning skills. Podcasting is one such novel tool being exploited by teachers to deliver educational content and to encourage learning outside the classroom. Research on podcasting pedagogy suggests that podcasting greatly helps learners develop various skills of English language. The study reviewed twenty journal articles to determine the effects of podcast on ESL students' language skills and attitude levels. Abstract The popularization of portable media players such as the  iPod , and the delivery of audio and video content through content management software such as  iTunes  mean that there is a wealth of language learning resources freely available to users who may download them and use them anywhere at any time. These resources vary greatly in quality and follow different approaches to learning. Podcasting is an audio content syndication through RSS feeds in the audioblogs. As a new application of audioblogging, podcasting uses the enclosures in RSS feeds for syndication and distribution of audio content to mobile music players on the Web. Despite the advantages of podcast- ing, there is a need for research that focus on the use of podcasts as learning objects. Incorporating podcasts into e-learning systems require some design and translation work to achieve the pedagogical needs.
